Viruses!!! Is your Computer Protected?

If you have been a victim to computer viruses, you know how devastating and frustrating it can be. Your school or work documents that took hours of hard work gone or precious photos you can’t get back. Protecting your computer from harmful viruses should be the number one concern for your files and documents. Real-time detection of suspicious files and questionable websites is a necessity for the always-connected world. The question that we often get is, “How do I protect my computer”?

Windows
Already installed on your Windows computer, Windows Defender, is an anti-malware component of Microsoft Windows. It is a well-integrated security system built-in to the operating system. It is quite easy to use and does not require installation. The interface is relatively straightforward and has little impact when running in the background. It can also efficiently collect threat samples from the users’ machines. For a security suite, it is low-maintenance.

Apple
Computer Support Group recommends finding an antivirus solution for your Apple computer.  For those Ubuntu and Linux Users, free & pay for antivirus software is available (this includes: Comodo, Sophos, ESET, Clam AV & Clam Tk).

Helpful ways to protect your computer:

Don’t open emails from people you don’t know
-If you don’t know who it is from or it seems strange DON’T open it.
-If it’s from a friend, call them
-If it suggests it’s from the government contact that office directly.
-If it is from a prince or princess in a “far away” land needing help moving money; delete it.
